AGILE FOR MANAGERS

As part of the workshop, participants will learn: What benefits Agile can offer and what are the currents trends associated with it What the term Agile means, and what methodologies and techniques arise from its philosophy Where to apply Agile in an organisation and which verified models to use What are the common problems facing Agile implementation and how to overcome them How to build Agile communities in an organisation< How to apply Agile on a larger scale on the example of SAFe, LeSS and DSDM methodologies Case Studies of ING’s transformation and the Spotify model Unlike other Agile training or workshops, we do not focus on a specific methodology. We also do not want to make you into a certified project manager or a Scrum Master. Our goal is to show the benefits of applying Agile and to organise your knowledge so that you can become fluent in multiple Agile methodologies and techniques. Training scope

Module 1: Benefits of Agile
In this part of the workshop, we will present the benefits of using the Agile approach. We will also show market trends related to Agile and its level of implementation on the global market. If you are still not convinced that Agile can be useful for your organisation, you might change your mind after this module of the workshop.

Module 2: What is Agile
In this part of the workshop we will present the Agile philosophy – the Agile manifesto. Then we will discuss the methodologies and techniques derived from, or related to, this philosophy. In doing so, we will build a map which will allow you to move more efficiently in the world of Agile.

Module 3: Scrum as the most popular Agile methodology
In this part we will present the most popular agile methodology – Scrum. It will allow you to understand how to manage work using an agile approach at the team level. We will present the basics of Scrum in terms of roles and responsibilities, ceremonies and techniques, as well as products (artefacts). You will learn that an agile project can fulfil commitments, deliver within budget and deadlines, and that the methodology allows you to maintain discipline and control.

Module 4: How to implement Agile and Case Studies (ING, Spotify)
In this part of the workshop, we will discuss Agile implementation strategies in an organisation. We will present models used by organisations around the world, and we will discuss the choice of methodology and the possibility of combining Agile and traditional approaches. In this module you will learn which strategy you can adopt to implement Agile in your organisation and how to take the first step.
We will also present typical problems encountered by Agile implementation and how to deal with them. We will also present Case Studies of ING’s transformation and we will discuss the Spotify model.

Module 5: Agile scaling in an organisation – SAFe, LeSS, DSDM
In this part of the workshop we will present methodologies for using agile on a large scale (building a large product, running a large program, scaling to the level of many teams in a large organisation). We will discuss and compare the advantages and disadvantages of methods such as Scaled Agile Framework, Large Scale Scrum, and Dynamic System Development Method.

Module 6: Simulation of leading and scaling an agile project – SAFe
We will practice elements such as: Project initiation (vision and creation of Product Backlog, prioritisation, estimation (Story Points), determining the Definition of Done, plan of releases and estimation of velocity), Planning of Issues (Big Room Planning), Sprint planning (clarification of acceptance criteria, task decomposition, creating a Sprint Backlog and Scrum table), Implementation of Sprint (production, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Retrospection, interpretation of burndown charts), Management of dependencies, Scrum of Scrums), Simulation of next sprints (option depends on team work speed in the previous steps of simulation).
